Congrats to Julianne for winning Contest #3! You'll get your prize when I get back home.

Good luck!

Sunday September 6 - Last Day In Japan

It's the last day in Japan and it's also pretty much the last day of my entire trip. Booooo. I'll be flying to Sweden tomorrow morning and then back to Toronto on Tuesday. It's been a crazy ride. Hopefully you've had fun and enjoyed it as much as I have. This probably won't be the last post. I still have to post contest #4 and maybe have a contest #5. We'll see how it goes.

As for today, we started off by eating here:

How I can visit Japan without doing some diggin?

Briefly passed by a food fair or food mart? I can't remember the name of it but I went nuts over the deserts. I love deserts. mmmmmmmmm.

Well me being greedy again, I had to ride the coaster once more. The ride yesterday was in the evening and it was dark by the time we got on. This time I wanted to try it during the day when I could see everything in the light.

Big up to my cousin for his sweet camera skills while I was on the coaster. Look closely, I'm the only one with both of my hands up during the entire ride. You sissies. haha.

For our last dinner in Tokyo, we tried a conveyor belt sushi. We simply pick our selections from a steady stream of fresh sushi moving along the conveyor belt. The final bill is based on the number and type of plates. The most expensive plate is on the far left of this sign and the least expensive to the far right:

Yup, I ate this:

So how many plates did I finish with?

And finally, we stopped by Mickey D's and guess what I saw, Shrimp burger. I don't eat at McDonald's but you know I had to try it. Only in Japan.

Saturday September 5 - Meiji Jingu, Tokyo Dome City, Thunder Dolphin

Since we were passing Godzilla on our way to the subway, I wanted to take some quick day time pics:

First stop was Yoyogi Park:

In the park we visited Meiji Jingu, a sacred shrine built in 1920.
Like at Sensoji Temple, you can enter this hut-like structure to wash your hands and rinse your mouth:

More of the shrine:

We were privileged to witness a traditional Japanese wedding procession at the shrine:

For those who know me, you know I love roller coasters. I had to do some research to find one in Tokyo. I know there are some famous ones in Japan and I couldn't leave without trying one.

Enter Tokyo Dome City and the Thunder Dolphin roller coaster. It's made of steel and is currently the 5th tallest continuous circuit roller coaster in the world. It passes through both a hole in a building, as well as through the Big-O, a centerless Ferris wheel.

The view of the city from the ride is crazy. Check out this amazing youtube clip for a first person view of the entire ride.
